Founder

I’m Marijn Sissingh, founder of Mindtrails and deeply passionate about behaviour change, coaching, and learning. Early in my career, I discovered that we become much better in changing or making change if we understand clearly WHY we do what we do.
In the previous 15 years, I have built extensive experience in behavioural analysis, learning experience design, training, workshop facilitation, learning management, and professional coaching.
I’ve applied behavioural science and learning theory in over 15 countries in diverse roles: as a UN Peacekeeper in Mali, an independent Certified Professional Coach, and a learning experience designer at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
I hold an MSc in Behaviour Change and an MSc in Sociology. I am a Professional Certified Coach (ICF-ACC) and I hold certifications in Project Management (IPMA-D), Agile (IPMA-D), and Change Management (Prosci).

A Metaphor for Change

Mind and trails—two words that carry our vision, mission, and approach. Let’s explore how.

The mind is our greatest asset. It shapes how we see the world and interpret experiences, and it allows us to imagine the future. The mind brings us awareness, desire, and choice. With the right tools and approaches at our disposal, we can help our minds see reality clearer and make choices that truly serve the change we seek.

Trails are a metaphor for the paths we walk in our daily lives. We live our lives like we walk our trails. Trails can bring us to the top of a mountain or guide us on long, winding journeys. Sometimes we plan our journey carefully; other times we lack a clear destination. At other moments, we get lost. We can decide to move faster, slow down, or turn back. We can immerse ourselves in the surroundings, dwell on what we have seen before, or, to the contrary, stay tightly focused on our goal, sometimes without noticing where we are. The quality of the trail, the weather conditions, and our company all shape our experience. And when we walk with others, we will need to co-create a journey that works for all.

Stepping Into Change

Just as walking unfamiliar trails can sometimes feel scary, change can feel daunting. Many people hesitate, procrastinate, or even actively resist it. This resistance often stems from the mindset and beliefs—uncertainty about the consequences, doubt about our abilities, or fear of losing something important.
